3, 2, 1...

Happy New Year's Eve! I'm one of those people that absolutely LOVES New Year's! A holiday dedicated to celebrating the past year and looking forward to the year to come. Last night I watched New Year's Eve in order to prepare myself for tonight :)

For the past 11 years, my family has celebrated New Year's with my best friend, Christina, and her family. It is a great tradition that I look forward to every year. I feel I am an expert at this holiday, so I've put together some must-haves for a killer New Year's:

1. Spectacular outfit-- I found the best shirt at Forever 21 yesterday. It is black with gold sparkle words "Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, Hope for Tomorrow." I was looking for something sparkly to ring in the new year, and this shirt was the perfect balance of cute and inspirational with the quote. I am going to pair it with blue jeans and I'm still deciding between my black heels and black booties. I am also going to paint my nails a black color with gold sparkles, that I got from Urban Outfitters for Christmas.
2. Some bubbly-- We all know that I am a big fan of Champagne; so of course this will be my drink of choice tonight!
3. Friends and family by your side-- Who better to celebrate the New Year than with your loved ones?
4. A camera-- Last year, New Year's was at my house, and I set up my camera in the corner as we counted down to midnight and set the camera timer to take pictures! It was so fun to look at them after.
5. A TV, set to New Year's Rockin' Eve-- Not only do I love it because we get to watch the ball drop, but it's held in Times Square, one of my favorite places.

Here is a quote I wanted to leave off with from the end of New Year's Eve.

"Sometimes it feels like there are so many things we can't control, earthquakes, floods, reality shows. But it's important to remember the things we can, like foregiveness, second chances, fresh starts. Because the one thing that turns the world from a lonely place to a beautiful place, is love. Love in any of its forms. Love gives us hope, hope for the New Year. That's New Year's Eve to me. Hope, and a great party." - Sam, New Year's Eve

This is the perfect quote for me because I have such a hard time of letting go of fear, and living. This is something I will continue to work on in the new year. I will be back tomorrow with a list of my New Year's Resolutions!

What are your plans for the evening?

Christmas Outfits

I promised I'd post specifically about my outfits from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so here it is!

Christmas Eve, my sweater and skirt came from TJ Maxx! (You should go ;) ) My booties were from Aldo a few years ago I believe.

For Christmas Day, I got a new shirt from Francesca's and wore my black jeans from Old Navy. I wore black heels from Payless.

What did you wear for Christmas this year!?

Christmas Celebrations Recap!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmases! Mine was truly enjoyable this year.

Christmas started early for me. On Sunday, I got together with my best friends since high school. We went out to dinner and after, came back to my house to hang out and exchange Secret Santa gifts. My friend Sam had me for Secret Santa, and got me the cutest Kappa Delta phone case and key chain. I absolutely love it! We had originally hoped of going into the city to see the tree, but the rainy weather kept us on Staten Island. I still had such a great time!

On Christmas Eve, my family and I went to mass and then came back to the house to prepare for my dad's family to come over. My dad only has only one sibling, but there were tons of cousins that add up! We had lots of Italian food (yum) and then opened gifts later in the evening. Christmas eve always ends up being a late night, and then when everyone left we stayed up to finish watching White Christmas :) We even took cute pictures by the tree. We finally got to bed around 3 am.

AND THEN...

We were crazily awoken at 4 am by our house alarm going off. We had a little glitch and didn't set something properly so it resulted in it going off. Definitely scared us all-- and made us very tired on Christmas Day.
But we all went back to sleep and woke up later on ready to open gifts and get our Christmas Day started! We opened gifts in the morning and had our traditional muffins for breakfast. Then we all got ready for my mom's brother and his sons to come over. Can't forget about Abuelita! It was her 80th birthday!! It was a great day with a lot of laughs :)

Yesterday I stayed in my pjs all day! Talk about relaxing.

Here are some pictures from my Christmas celebrations:

My perfect Secret Santa gift!

My favorite part of Christmas is spending time with great family and friends. We still have 3 more Christmas celebrations!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Today is a busy day here at my house. We host both Christmas Eve and day festivities. I have to run some errands with mom first and then go home to get ready for mass. I can't wait to see everyone!

I'll share a post for my Christmas outfits later this week :)

Today I picked out some new glasses! I was in need of a new pair and finally made an appointment to get them before I head back to school. What do you think?

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

As I mentioned a few posts ago, my family and I have a tradition of watching White Christmas together each year. We make hot chocolate and eat Christmas cookies and chocolate star cookies. It is one of my absolute favorite traditions that I look forward to each year.

Some years we even took our tradition to another level:

In 2007 we traveled to Pennsylvania to the Dutch Apple to see White Christmas performed. It was so great! One of the best parts of the trip was the breakfast we had at the chain Bob Evans. Yum!

In 2009 White Christmas was on Broadway, so of course we couldn't pass up this opportunity. It was so great!

I even love listening to the soundtrack (we have both the movie and Broadway versions).

We watched White Christmas last since everyone is finally all home together! However, we only made it only 2 hours in, and still have yet to finish it. I guess this means another movie night!

Do you have any special Christmas traditions with your families?

Christmas in a cup

All I've been wanting for a few days is Starbucks in a Christmas cup. Today while out shopping, I finally got one!

I got a tall chai tea latte with skim milk, my favorite :)

What's your go-to Starbuck's drink?

I'm Home!!

You read right, I'm finally home for Christmas vacation. Yesterday was filled with an early morning of studying for my last final. And it only took me 20 minutes to take!! After that I grabbed some lunch, packed up my car, and headed home!

This is a picture I sent my mom before I went into my final-- a little too excited

I hit no traffic and was home early in the afternoon. I was so excited to be home that I jumped on my dad. Which then turned to my sister jumping on him, then my mom. Hope his back doesn't hurt today!
I caught up with my family for a while and slowly unpacked my things. We ordered pizza for dinner, because really, who can turn down Friday night NY pizza !?
Nothing beats sicilian pizza from Guissepe's!
It was too great. After dinner mom, Guita, and I headed to a few shops to pick up last minute gifts.

My friends from home and I are exchanging Kris Kringle (or Secret Santa) gifts tomorrow. I pulled my best friend Christina's name from the virtual name picker we used! (SO COOL). I decided to craft something for her and got her a super complicated paint by numbers canvas which she loves.

Smile, life is beautiful-- my best friend loves this quote.

The rest of my night consisted of painting, watching Santa Clause 2, then picking my sister up from work. I love being home for the holidays!!

What's your favorite part about being home for the holidays?

Makeover time!

You would think after working on a website for the past few weeks, I would be really sick of coding. Nope! I finished studying for my last final tonight so I decided I would play around with the html on my blog for a little bit! Do you like the changes I made? I'm hoping to work on this more on my break-- which begins tomorrow afternoon!! I cannot wait to go home and get ready for Christmas with my family.

Snow Day!

So as many people on the east coast know, we got a lot of snow today! Those in Pennsylvania particularly got a lot of snow. It started Sunday morning, on day 2 of my dance showcase, which made it harder for many people to come see the show. Luckily my parents made it safely here and home! The snow took a break on Monday, but began again early this morning and full speed ahead.

Students in the Communication department have to work on a senior project during their final year in the major. Unfortunately my group project was due today so we had to postpone! We were really hoping the snow woulnd't come today, but we were rescheduled for tomorrow.

Friday is reading day for our school, but I don't have finals until next Thursday. However I have a huge multimedia website due tomorrow and broadcast reel due Thursday! One positive of this snow day was that it put me in the Christmas mood! My roommates and I cuddled up, made hot chocolate, and watched Christmas movies :) This snow day also made me feel like such an adult because we had to shovel the sidewalk of our house! Talk about feeling old.

I am now watching the Grinch and working on my final internship paper.

How did you spend your snow day?

My Favorite Christmas Movies

I can't wait to start watching Christmas movies. Since I am so busy with school, I may have to have a movie marathon once I get home!

Here are my top 5 Christmas movies:

1. The Santa Clause
2. White Christmas
3. Elf
4. The Grinch
5. The Polar Express

Brain Food

I am currently struggling to work on my multimedia website. It is basically a research paper in website form. I just want to curl up in a ball and finish the Santa Clause that I started last night! I started getting hungry to I made a snack of craisins and sea salted almonds. Each came in 100 calorie packs so this nice snack comes out to 200 calories!

What's your favorite brain food?

25 Days of Christmas!

Tomorrow is December 1st!! You know what that means!? ABC's 25 Days of Christmas begins!

I absolutely LOVE Christmas, and especially love watching Christmas movies. Here is the schedule for ABC's movies. Each year I have a goal of watching as many movies as I can, but sometimes that darn school gets in the way.

What's your favorite Christmas movie?

My personal favorite movie is the Santa Clause, but my family has a tradition of watching White Christmas together each year. More to follow on that soon!

What I'm Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving bloggers!

I am thankful for so much this Thanksgiving. It has been quite a year filled with many ups and downs, but I'm so lucky to have had so many people by my side. I'm hoping I didn't forget anything, but here's a list of what I'm thankful for this year:

My family. My family has made me the young woman I am today. They are always there for me and I couldn't ask for anything more.
My school. I attend an amazing institution with great values and academics. I can't imagine going to another school.
My Six. I am lucky to call a group of 5 girls my best friends since freshman year of high school. They're my go-to, forever best friends.
Warner Bros. I wouldn't want to spend my senior year living with anyone other than these 5 girls. I know I'm in for a fun time when I'm with them.
Kappa Delta. I am blessed to have found a home in this sorority almost 2 years  ago. They have brought me the greatest friends, roommates, and Big and Little a girl could ask for.
Special Olympics Committee. Joining this committee 3 years ago, I would've never thought that it would turn into a family.
Dance Company. Dance has been my passion since I was 3 years old, and I am lucky to share this passion with so many other great girls.

How could I not feel blessed when I have this list for things to be thankful.  I am happy to be spending another Thanksgiving day at my cousins' house in Brooklyn. It is always filled with good food and lots of laughs.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Lo Siento!

So sorry I've been MIA! It's been over a month since I've last posted. The past month has been super busy but filled with SO many good things!

Here's a small recap:

The first weekend back from Fall Break was Homecoming! My Big and a lot of my alumni friends came to visit. It was so nice to catch up with all of my friends who I don't get to see!

The next weekend was Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Fall Festival held at Villanova. I have been a part of the Committee since my sophomore year and this year was especially important because it was the 25th anniversary! This committee and Fall Festival have such an big place in my heart, and I can't imagine my life without it.

After that weekend was over, I finally was able to catch up on all my school work and get back to the job search. I attend the New York Women in Communications 2013 Student Communications Career Conference at NYU. It was so inspiring and so great to meet so many professionals in the industry!

Last weekend I was able to travel to my sister's dance show up at her school. It was so nice to surprise her and support her dancing!

Now I am sitting in my living room at home with my sister and mom and watching TV. I am so excited to be home for Thanksgiving and see my friends and family.

What are you looking forward to during this Thanksgiving break?

Today's chilly weather calls for my vest, sweater, and brown boots!

Weekend Whirlwind!

I promised I'd fill you in on my exciting weekend, so here it is!

My weekend stories start on Wednesday night, when I went to go pick up my sister from college for her mini fall break! I hadn't seen her since I moved her in, in August, so this was the longest we had ever been apart!! We spent a lot of time catching up on Wednesday night and Thursday.

And now for the big weekend...

Friday morning my alarm was set for 6:45 am. I was heading to the city to shadow at the Google offices! I was participating in an alumni shadow program through my school, and my host was an Account Manager at Google! As soon as I found out I started Googling everything I needed to know about Google. Needless to say I was getting very excited. When I got to the offices I was not disappointed. They were as cool as I thought they would be. My host was incredibly nice. Not only did she tell me so much about Google and its history, but she also talked to me about the job search process, which I was grateful for. A day at Google would not be complete without eating in one of their many cafeterias! Lunch was so yummy. I even had to splurge on some dessert. My day was at Google was incredible, and gets me excited for the possibilities of where I could possibly work one day!

Next stop in my day? Heading downtown to meet one of my besties Nicole. I hailed my own cab for the first time! Its exhilarating.  Nicole interns at Kelly and Michael, so she was also going to meet me downtown. (Isn't that so cool!?) We met at Nicole's dad's house and he drove us down to ATLANTIC CITY!! We were going down for one of our best friend's 21st birthdays. She was the last of the group to turn 21 and it was the first time most of us were going to AC when we were finally legal!

We were staying at Revel, so as soon as we got there we went and checked in and went to our room while we waited for the rest of our group. Once we were all there we got ready for dinner and headed to Lugo, a nice italian restaurant. Of course we had to order champagne at dinner! After dinner we played some machines and then went back to the room to get ready in our little black dresses for the rest of the night. We were going out to HQ night club, so we had to dress to impress. It was a full night of dancing and having fun with my best girl friends. It was a late night, but so worth it!

The next day we slept in and then strolled downstairs for breakfast at the SkyCafe. I had a nice Belgium waffle (yum!). After we played a few more machines (I won $45!!) and then went and grabbed our bags and headed out. It was such a fun trip!!

When I came home it was time for more catching up with my sister. She was leaving Sunday morning so I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. I drove up with my parents on Sunday to drive her back to school which was also nice. We ate at a diner and I got a GREAT wrap. It was so yummy.

It was a crazy weekend but so much fun! I traveled so much but it is always nice to plug my iPod in and relax. Now I'm back at school and ready for a few crazy weeks I have ahead of me! All filled with exciting things.

How was your weekend? Anything exciting coming up?

Feeling Fall

Ever just have those days that you're in love with the season? We'll today I woke up loving fall. I had a cute outfit in mind for the busy day I'd be having. Mom, grandma, and I took a trip to visit family and jersey and then went to pick up Little J from college for a long weekend she has. It's been almost two months since I moved her in and it was the longest we had been apart! It will be so nice to spend some time together.

Here's some pictures of the outfit I wore today:

Banana- egg Pancakes

So since the spaghetti squash was so successful last night, I decided to try another Undressed Skeleton dish! This morning I made banana egg pancakes! You mash up one banana and mix it with one egg. I also added in a little vanilla. The consistency was hard to work with when flipping the pancakes but I think it'll just take some practice! I topped the pancakes with a little cinnamon. I also had my favorite chai tea with a little milk. Today my tea was sweetened with Truvia instead of Splenda. I'm not sure how I feel about the change yet but I will definitely keep on trying!

Are you a Spelnda or Truvia fan?

Spaghetti Squash!!

I've been dying to make spaghetti squash since I started reading about it over the summer on the blogs I follow. Since I am home for the week I figured why not try now! I bought a spaghetti squash when i went food shopping last night. It came out SO GOOD!!! I'm hooked. I followed Taralynn's recipe on Undressed Skeleton. I'm absolutely obsessed with her blog, and all of her amazing recipes.

I cut up the spaghetti squash in half and scooped the seeds out. I then placed the halves seed-side down on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. I cooked it in the oven for about 50 minutes. I then took out the halves, held them with pot holders and scraped at it with a fork. I took a bite and was so excited!! Not only did I successfully make the spaghetti squash, but I actually liked it!! I topped it with my dad's tomato sauce and a meatball. I also had some salad and mixed veggies.

I will definitely be adding this onto my list of regular dinners when I get back to school.

Have you tried any new foods lately? Share with me!

Home

It always feels so great to be home. I am off for 10 days for fall break. It was so nice waking up in my room this morning.

Today I got to sleep in. I slept for 10 hours! It hasn't happened in so long. I had my breakfast and relaxed before I went for a run. It is so nice seeing all the trees in the neighborhood change and see some friendly faces.

I came back and made myself a nice omelette then took a trip to the mall with my mom and grandma. I picked up some new makeup and some fall soap and candles. We came home to my dad making barbecue chicken (yum yum yum). After dinner I went to the grocery store to pick up some fruit.

Now momma and I are gonna watch Dancing with the Stars! I absolutely love being home :)

What's your favorite part of fall (or fall at home if you live away)?

Things I'm loving right now

Today it was super cold and rainy, which would normally make me feel gloomy. However, I got to do a bunch of of my favorite things relating to the dreary weather:

1. This morning I made my favorite chai tea and a nice hot bowl of oatmeal.
2. I got to wear my lovely Burberry rain boots-- I don't always break them out, but I already have two times this week!
3. I wore my new favorite Old Navy leggings. I don't like wearing jeans when it rains so my go-to is always leggings.
4. I did lots of networking today-- I felt super accomplished.
5. I went on a roomie-date to Panera for dinner. I got their chicken noodle soup. Mmm Mmm good!
6. I painted my nails again my new favorite Essie color, Bahama Mama.
7. I curled up on the couch with my fleece blanket and some TV since I'm now on fall break. (this included the new Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and the super sad Glee episode)

What do you like to in rainy weather?

Sometimes its the little things

Happy Hump Day!!

I'm writing this blog with the biggest smile on my face. Why you ask? I'm just in one of those happy moods.

This morning had a great start. Last night I decided that I was going to sleep in today and not work out  and just have a relaxing morning. I set my alarm for 9, but ended up waking up around 8:30 and I was surprisingly not too tired. I took a shower, put together some Greek yogurt and fruit, and sat down to watch Kelly and Michael. As you probably remember, I watched Kelly and Michael every day over the summer, and even got to see them live! Since being back at school, I haven't really been able to watch, but was happy to see that Hayden Panettiere was one of the guests. (I'm a huge Nashville fan). After Kelly and Michael, I blew out my hair, got dressed, did my makeup, and packed up my meals for the day. I still had time to paint my nails with the new Essie polish I picked up yesterday (Bahama Mama) and catch up on the latest episode of Once Upon a Time. Oh, I even made my favorite Chai tea in my new Tervis mug that I got yesterday from Bed Bath and Beyond!

Around 11:20 I left for my internship. My great day doesn't stop there!!

One of the guys that works at the store told me I looked nice today! (Not a big deal, but always nice to hear it once in a while). I also got up a new blog post for the company I intern with. It came out great! I think the best part about it was my moms reaction to it. She seriously is my #1 fan and biggest supporter. I don't know what I would do without her.

Its moments like this that make me realize that I really love the field that I'm going into!

What are some special moments that make your days great?

Morning eats

I am so excited to share the breakfast I made this morning! I've read so much about overnight oats that I was dying to try it. I prepared them last night before I went to bed. I used 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup milk, a little bit of water, 3/4 banana, and a handful of raisins. It was SO GOOD! I will definitely be making this a staple in my breakfasts.

What toppings do you like on your oatmeal?

Morning Kind of Gal

So the past two days I've realized that I am definitely a morning person. I've always thought so, but I have gotten up extra early the past two days and have been SUPER productive. Yesterday I mentioned that I woke up and went to Starbucks for some work time, now today I woke up, got ready fast and headed to a building on campus to do some work. My nights are so busy, that sometimes I just need that extra hour or hour and a half to get work done in the morning.

Remember how I pledged at the beginning of the week to eat healthy? Well it has been going great so far! I feel so much better already. I've even been able to fit in more workouts. Monday I had dance class at night, so that was my workout for the day. I was able to go for a run outside yesterday evening, which felt great. I really want to run a 5k that is on campus at the end of October, so I'm trying to run more. Yesterday I ran/walked the equivalence of a 5k which was pretty good for me. It may have taken me some time but I was so proud of myself for even doing it. Tonight I have dance again, and then tomorrow will be my off day since I am super busy. I am hoping to get out for a run again on Friday!

Eating healthy and exercising have made me feel so great about myself, and in a better mood. Sometimes, I feel like I can conquer the world! (If only I could conquer that homework lol)

Now I'm off to my internship which means Facebook and Twitter all day everyday-- no complaints here.

What are some of your accomplishments this week?

PS- Nashville is back tonight!! I cannot WAIT to watch it :)

A Starbucks Kind of Morning

Last night was one of those super stressful nights, where you're on the verge of tears but you know it'll be okay.  I had a few things due today that I had to get done last night.  The way my schedule is working out this semester, I always have things due the days after my super busy nights, and then on my free nights I have zero work to do.  And I usually can't even work ahead because the work hasn't been assigned yet.  Oh well, I guess I'll figure it out.

I decided to get up early this morning and head to Starbucks which is about 3 minutes from my house.  I needed a substantial breakfast, so I ordered the oatmeal :) and an Awake tea latte.  I've never had one before, so I hope I like it!  Eating the oatmeal made me feel so much better!

When I woke up this morning it was 44 degrees out!! 44!? Seriously isn't it supposed to be fall, not winter!? Thankfully my parents brought me some heavier fleeces when they came to visit.

Now I'm going to finish my homework and then head to campus for a senior project meeting before class.

What calms you down when you're stressed?

Clean Lean Machine

So today my mom and I started a challenge to eat clean.  We have both always struggled on and off with eating healthily, and always feel so much better when we do.  We were each other's support systems while I was home this summer, so I'm hoping we can continue to encourage each other even when we're not in the same state.

Some major things I'm focusing on cutting out are:
1. Soda (bye bye Coke zero
2. Chocolate
3. Carbs (This summer I stuck to only toast in the morning and I want to do that again)

I have absolutely NO willpower.  So I need to cut things out completely so I am not tempted.  It seems to work when I do that, and I don't even crave them!

I've been struggling to eat healthy since I've been back at school.  I feel like I'm always tempted with sweet treats and fried goodies.  I've also had a hard time squeezing working out.  But I'm trying!  I know I'll figure out a routine soon.

What are some of your food weaknesses? How do you control yourself?

The parents are here!

Hello bloggers!!

Sorry I haven't blogged in so long. I'm seriously always on the go. Whether is class, my internship, dance rehearsals, SpO, or sorority chapter meetings, I feel like I never have time to take a break. But all of these things make me extremely happy so I can't complain!!

That's why Parent's Weekend this weekend was the perfect timing. Mom and dad drove down this morning and brought me some much needed fall clothes, then we headed to a nearby cafe called Nudy's for some brunch. I've been craving brunch for a while, so this was perfect! I got cinnamon bun pancakes and they were great!

After brunch we headed to the King of Prussia mall for some shopping. I got so many cute fall clothes, and all at great prices!! After the mall we went to the hotel to freshen up and went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Plaza Azteca-- it was awesome!  I enjoyed some fresh guacamole and my Bahama Mama drink :)

Now we're all relaxing together in our hotel room, watching TV. This is one of the things I miss most about being home :( We'll probably head to sleep soon because we have an early Senior Breakfasttomorrow morning  and then I'll be dancing in a showcase for dance.

Night bloggers!

Dinner for a college student on a budget :)

Here's what I've packed for dinner today!  I'm running from class to a meeting so no time to stop home in between. I've put together salad with prepared lettuce, cherry tomatoes, a few slices of yellow and green squash, and 1/4 avocado. I've also warmed up a Morning Star veggie patty! My dressing is Kraft Balsamic Vinaigrette lite.

Yum yum!

What's your favorite on-the-go dinner?

Morning thoughts

Good morning!

Here's a picture of what has come to be my every day breakfast this summer. I often turn into a habit individual, so I like knowing what I'm going to have everyday. This is also good because since I am so crazy once I get back to school,  already knowing what works for breakfast everyday saves me a lot of time. I actually timed myself this morning and it took me under 5 minutes to toast my bread, make my tea, and cut up the banana. (Thank you Keurig for your existence). I even washed the measuring cup I used for my milk.

Well back go the main reason of my post. I am leaving tomorrow to go back to school for dance camp. Where did the summer go?!  I truly had such a great summer. It may not have gotten off to the smoothest start but I definitely think I will look back at it and be pleased.

I started off the summer by celebrating my daddy's 60th birthday. He is the definition of the greatest dad out there. The summer then progressed into celebrating mommy's birthday! (Our family's birthdays are 4 months in a row-- April, May, June, and July.)  June was also a big month for my little sister (I'll call her Little J. Hellooooo Gossip Girl!)  Little J graduated from high school! It was also my alma mater so that was a big deal. June was filled with some concerts, beach days, and catching up with friends!  Then July rolled around. HELLO BIRTHDAY MONTH.  We started off July by taking a family vacation to Ocean City, Maryland. I also got to celebrate the big birthday-- 21!! It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. After I turned 21, I was finally able to go out and enjoy some night life!  I love to just go out and dance so it was nice to finally be able to go places.  As August approached, I started having some of my "lasts" and seeing family and friends for a final time before I return to school. I am going back to school super content with my summer and ready to start a great year!

What are you looking forward to this school year?!

Xoxo,
